Why do we need you?
Join our dedicated Swale Volunteer Team working on our reserves across Swale. From the grazing marshes of Oare Marshes and South Swale to Cromers in Sittingbourne and Spuckles Wood in Stalisfield, our volunteer team helps us to manage habitats for people and wildlife.
The Swale Volunteer team move between the sites throughout the year, with much of winter spent at Oare Marshes managing reed bed and scrub and spring and summer spent mending fences, gates, ponds and much more in Stalisfield.
We’re looking for committed individuals who don’t mind travelling across the county. Work parties take place weekly, meeting on site for 9.30am and finishing by 2.30pm.
We will prioritise volunteers who can commit to a full day across the county, as we’re unable to support a small team carrying out large jobs outside the Faversham area.
You will need outdoor work wear and boots suitable for all weathers and activities, wellies and waterproofs in winter are especially important!
Experience, knowledge and skills needed for this role:
- No previous experience required
- You should be happy to work outdoors in all weathers
- Willing to work as part of a team
- Enthusiastic
- A passion for nature and wildlife
- A driver’s license

What's in it for the volunteers:
No previous experience is required, full training is given and you’ll only be asked to do what you are comfortable with. There is also the potential to receive further training such as leadership training, brushcutter and first aid.
