Have a go at dissecting a Kestrel pellet, learn about Kent's birds of prey, and see what your discoveries teach us about local populations.
Join us for an exciting kestrel pellet dissection workshop, where we delve into locally collected pellets to get a better understanding of what our Kentish birds of prey have been eating.
You will learn more about what birds of prey to expect in our county, how to tell them apart, and will have the opportunity to dissect some pellets yourself to discover what makes up their diet.
Typically we might find the bones of small mammals, and occasionally those belonging to amphibians or small birds. Those who would like to can even take their findings home with them!
Children must be supervised at all times by their accompanying adult. We find people often like to bring large groups to these events, so to help with capacity and ensure as many children as possible can attend we charge a small amount for any adults attending above one per child.
Charges apply to use the car park (card/app payments only).
