Join the herd, become a Bison Benefactor today

Forge your name in bronze in the Ancient Blean Woodland, and support the work of the UK’s most charismatic eco-engineers.

Become a Bison Benefactor

Kent is home to the UK’s first herd of free-roaming bison, and we are proud to be their custodians. This ground-breaking conservation project is shaping the future of our relationship with wildlife, and you could be part of that change.

By becoming a Bison Benefactor, your name will be forged in bronze and take pride of place in the Ancient Blean Woodlands, mounted on the country’s first Bison Bridges.

Your donation will support the work of our Bison Rangers, as we expand the bison’s home, study their impact on biodiversity and support each new addition to the herd.

How Benefactors help support the Bison Herd

Every donation goes towards supporting the bison as they carry out their important work as ecosystem engineers. These magnificent herbivores can create life-sustaining impact, but only if we give them the chance.

You will help create space – giving bison the chance to move across the landscape, shape the habitat around them, and be able to choose where they forage, ruminate, what they eat, and where they birth their young.

You will influence change at scale – collecting data, monitoring impact, and evidencing our findings are crucial. With this data we can influence change by evidencing positive outcomes for nature. To do this we need to collect soil samples, monitor the variety and density of plants and insects, and track the habits and movement of the herd. And we must have skilled Bison Rangers to help us carry out this work.

You will become change-makers – sharing our findings, our journey, and advocating for nature-based solutions is one of the most important outcomes of this ground-breaking conservation project. With your help we can host change-makers, share findings, and advocate for a wilder future.

By becoming a Bison Benefactor you will be part of the first conservation project of its kind in the UK. In setting up this project we have begun to form the blueprint for a better, more natural future, where ecosystem engineers help us by encouraging biodiversity and creating climate resilient landscapes.

These magnificent animals are already making real change, with the return of dung beetles to Blean Woodland, and the discovery of the at-risk fiery clearwing moth. There is no better evidence of their positive effect on the ancient Blean Woodland as they help to restore their home to its former glory, before human intervention.

We have a vision to restore nature at scale, and we need your help to turn this ambition into reality.

Whether you’re an individual, company, Trust, or community group, to discuss becoming a Bison Benefactor today contact us.

If you’re inspired by our Bison, but becoming a Benefactor isn’t right for you we would welcome your donation to continue our vital work.
