Why do we need you?
A typical High Downs site, Park Gate Down is renowned for its rich chalk downland flora. Set in a remote valley surrounded by ancient woodland , scrub and hedgerow with patches of acidic grassland and heathland nearby. Help us reverse wildlife decline by working with landowners to link these habitats and improve the wider landscape.
A day in your life might include:
Spring & Summer
Path maintenance, fence repairs, weed control, green hay and wildflower seed spread
Autumn & Winter
Scrub and woodland coppicing. Hedge laying and tree popping.
Experience and Skills needed

You should be happy to work outdoors in all weathers.

Be passionate about wildlife and the environment but no specialist knowledge is needed.
Benefits to volunteering and training opportunities
Full training is given and you’ll only be asked to do work you are comfortable with. There is also the potential to undertake further training such as leading groups safely, First Aid and brushcutter.
