About the event

Join us for our first ever Open Garden at Tyland Barn. The Nature Park at Tyland Barn is a fantastic and easy way to experience the wonders of our Kentish countryside. The park was created to be a little Kent and now has woodlands, colourful wildflower meadows and a large pond full of life. Wander along the wheelchair and buggy accessible paths and you might spot spectacular orchids, stag beetles in the log piles or dragonfly flitting over the reeds.

The planting in the Tyland Barn area has recently been redesigned and becomes a contemporary, colourful and inspirational example of how we can all help wildlife in our gardens.

Activities for the day will include -

  • 3 guided tours led by our trained volunteers, for anyone that wants to be shown around the nature park and gardens with and be given information about its history and future plans. We will have a sign in desk and people can put their name down for one of the 3 time slots there.
  • Display of pond invertebrate in a tray and with the camera projected onto the screen
  • Butterfly survey (weather dependent)
  • Hedgehog stand (potentially)
  • Owl pellet dissection
  • Plant stall - this is cash only
  • Information from the WAG team on wildlife friendly gardening and the 3 P’s

The Pond cafe will also be open to enjoy.

Please note that parking is available in the car park and on the road should the car park become full.

All ages are welcome! We look forward to seeing you.
