Identification of Fungi III
About the event
This course begins in the field with a brief introduction to the larger (macro) fungi and their habitats. We shall then take the opportunity to visit the woodland areas, scrub and the open grassland.
During the day we shall consider the physical features of specimens which will lead to identification. Fungal habitats, mycorrhizal associations and other identification features will be discussed, and advice will be given on books.
We shall consider the question of edibility, but this study day is for those wishing to understand and identify the fungi – for scientific and interest purposes – not for the kitchen!
