The West Blean and Thornden Wood Task group has been busy this summer completing a range of tasks, following a handover of leadership from former Warden of the Weald, Holly Savage, to the Bison Team.
After removing the invasive Goat’s rue (Galega officinalis) from Thornden car park, the team got stuck into installing wooden posts to aid drone surveys that monitor changes in vegetation coverage from the bison and proxy conservation grazers. Next, it was strimming and clearing around the electric fences in the future bison compartments of Pond and North wood. The team has also been carrying out important maintenance on the outside of our Heather Corrie Ranger Station.
All this hard work is greatly appreciated and has helped us move forward with the Wilder Blean Project this year!
