Blue Mentor Jenny Luddington sat with a Guide working on a project

St Radigunds Youth Group

St Radigunds Youth Group:

This youth group meets fortnightly at St Radigunds Community Centre in Dover. The community centre was built as a result of a collective of people from within the local residential and business community coming together to develop and build a Community Centre and nursery to serve the local community. The Centre has been a valued and well-used resource for the communities living in and around Dover since its completion in 2003. Jenny has been working with the young people who use the centre to create their own blue social action project, inspired by issues important to them.

Blue Influencer Project:

The project initially started as a collaboration with GAP (Global Action Plan) - an environmental charity focused on issues where the connection between the health of people and our planet is most tangible - who were already working with the young people at St Radigunds. This work included getting the young people involved with some community gardening, planting (and then eating) things like radishes and lettuce.

When the collaboration with GAP ended, Jenny took over facilitating the next stage of the group’s social action project, linking up with ArtsWork to develop a creative arts project linked to Blue Issues.

The group have also collaborated with Reaching Greater Heights (a collaborative project between English Heritage, Kent Wildlife Trust, White Cliffs Countryside Partnership and the Western Heights Preservation Society) to get the young people involved in accessibility film projects, supporting young people with access needs enjoy green and blue spaces.
