18 hectares of ancient woodland, approximately ½ mile (0.8 km) northeast of Elmstead Village.
Limited car parking is available outside the village church. No parking prior to Sunday services please!
The woodland is regularly coppiced to maintain a rich diversity of plants and animals. The dominant tree species are sweet chestnut, hornbeam, 71 hazel, ash, field maple and willow. Lady orchid, greater butterfly-orchid and herb-Paris can be found on the thinner soils on the top part of the slope. Ramsons, bluebell and broom are all found on the lower slopes. Waymarked paths provide an ideal route round the reserve.
