Kent Wildlife Trust Ecology Groups

Each Ecology Group is made up of volunteers living in the proximity of each defined area, and is engaged in fieldwork on the reserves within and close to that Living Landscape. Local community engagement is a key to ensuring the long-term sustainability of each group.

Each group covers a cluster of nature reserves, which by nature of their geographic proximity will have a number of habitats in common. Monitoring projects and fieldwork focus on those species groups that are most useful in answering questions about the quality of habitats, the effect of habitat management, and changes over time, as well as species of elevated conservation priority.

Kent Wildlife Trust Ecology Groups are based around our Living Landscapes:

  • Darent Triangle
  • Dover Downlands
  • Lower Stour Wetlands
  • Medway Smile
  • Romney Marsh
  • The Blean
