Livestock Checker Picnics - July Update

Livestock Checker Picnics - Two down, two to go

This summer we are hosting four livestock checker volunteer picnics. We know that Livestock Checking can be a lonely role that doesn’t have regular social opportunities to meet up like many of our team based roles at KWT. These picnics are being held at one of four of our beautiful nature reserves across Kent. So far the volunteers have visited Magpie Bottom and  Hothfield Heathlands. Next they will visit Nashenden Downs and Ham Fen.

We have had Kent Wildlife Trust staff in attendance from our Volunteer Team, our Grazing Team and Senior Leadership Team to answer  questions. Each visit consists of guided wander round the reserve looking at the unique grazing that is taking place. The events have been really well received and it has been so lovely to meet so many of the volunteers in person.

There are still places for the last two remaining days which are open to any livestock checkers. If you have been missed off this mailing list and you are currently a Livestock Checker then please email volunteering@kentwildlife.org.uk

These social days are the first step in trialling social volunteer events after the pandemic. The plan is to host a similar series of KWT Volunteer Social Days at regular intervals across Kent. We are also looking into hosting a Christmas Party at Tyland Barn in early December - more details to follow in the next newsletter.
