Field Identification Skills Certificate

FISC Event © BSBIFISC work

Kent Wildlife Trust is happy to announce that, in partnership with the Botanical Society for Britain and Ireland, we will be hosting two Field Identification Skills Certificate days (FISC) at Tyland Barn in 2018.

Our FISC dates have been confirmed as Thursday 7 June and 12 July for 2018.

The cost of this year’s FISC events are £75 nationally, which includes transport to the secret location.

FISC is becoming the standard for assessing botanical survey skills - there is currently no equivalent qualification.  All candidates receive a certificate from the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland stating their botanical skill level.

Useful advice is also given on how to progress to the next level. A FISC starts with a morning lab session, where candidates identify plant species from all over the British Isles.

In the afternoon candidates visit a secret location and spend around an hour and a half recording every plant they see.

To make a booking, please contact Dot Hughes or Liz Carr at Kent Wildlife Trust on 01622 662012.

We will also be running another FISC event in partnership Christchurch university on 6th September and will be based at the biology building in North Holmes Road.

To make a booking for this KWT/CCU FISC event, you should also contact Dot Hughes or Liz Carr at Kent Wildlife Trust on 01622 662012.
