Field Identification Skills Certificate

FISC Event © BSBIFISC work

Kent Wildlife Trust is happy to announce that, in partnership with the Botanical Society for Britain and Ireland, we will be hosting three Field Identification Skills Certificate days (FISC) at Tyland Barn in 2017.

These FISC one-day tests will enable attendees  to be awarded a FISC certificate stating their botanical identification skill level.

The Kent FISC events will be held on:

  • Thursday 1st June 2017 - COMPLETED
  • Thursday 20th July 2017 - FULLY BOOKED
  • Thursday 7th September 2017 - Find out more here

FISC is becoming the standard for assessing botanical survey skills - there is currently no equivalent qualification, plus you cannot fail!  Useful advice is also given on how to progress to the next level of FISC.

A FISC starts with a morning lab session, where attendees identify plant species from all over the British Isles. After lunch,  attendees visit a secret location and spend around an hour and a half recording every plant they see.

The FISC costs £60 per person for the whole day, which includes lunch and transport to the secret site.
