Green Friday - Act Now for Nature

There is something you can do to help the nature and climate crisis this year. From 1st-27th of November, we're offering you the chance to Act Now for Nature by joining us a member. The best part is, you don't have to pay anything until January 2024.

The Green Friday we want to see is one where nature gets the best deal. With COP28 around the corner it's time for us to take action and stand up against the anti-nature agenda. But we can't do it alone. Organisations like us rely on our members and donors to give nature a voice. Every member can make a difference and join a community of like-minded individuals striving for a better future. Your support helps us preserve and protect wild places in Kent and the bigger we are as an organisation, the more pressure we can put on government to do the right thing for Kent's wildlife.

From just £3 a month, you will receive:

  • the latest edition of our exclusive member magazine,
  • priority booking for selected events, study days and children's activities,
  • our member only magazine 4 times a year,
  • early access to our volunteering opportunities,
  • a free 'Welcome to the Flock' Chough tote bag and
  • a welcome pack including our brilliant nature reserves guide.

All of this completely free until January 2024.

Black Friday - background

Every year, millions of people participate in Black Friday- a day on which businesses around the world offer deals on their products and services. But, this "buy-buy-buy" is not sustainable. In fact, Black Friday has been criticised extensively for encouraging unnecessary consumption and mass waste.

For example, electronic items are some of the most commonly purchased items during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. All of these new devices and gadgets will eventually become electronic waste ("e-waste") of which only 20% is recycled and all of which have the potential to leak toxic materials like lead and mercury into the air, water, and soil.

Black Friday deals can have a devastating impact on our planet and communities, especially at the scale at which it is being promoted this year.
