The Great Big Nature Survey - Materials for Corporate Supporters & Partners

What is The Great Big Nature Survey?

The Great Big Nature Survey is a brand-new survey from The Wildlife Trusts. The survey will look to engage with people from all over the UK and islands about their opinions on our wildlife and nature. We want as many people as possible to have their say – how they’ve taken action for nature, how nature makes them feel, what roles they think society, government and local people should have in managing nature, and much more.

We will be attempting to reach as many different demographics as possible, with respondents from a variety of backgrounds and with many different experiences in and views of nature and wild places.

Why are The Wildlife Trusts running this survey?

  • To increase our understanding of supporters and the wider UK population. We will gain valuable insights into how the people of the UK and islands view nature and how they feel it should be managed (if at all).
  • To engage with our supporters. We want supporters and the public to know that we value their views and opinions.
  • To reach a wider audience, increasing the public’s awareness of their local Wildlife Trust and The Wildlife Trusts movement.
  • To anonymise and share these results with our supporters.
  • To allow for more effective movement-wide advocacy based on the known attitudes of our members and supporters

When is the survey being launched and how long is it live for?

The survey will remain live over the following year, to allow as many people to complete it as possible. A long shelf life will also allow us to review how respondents’ opinions change over time. We intend to update and relaunch the survey on an annual basis going forward.

Subject: Kent Wildlife Trust & The Wildlife Trusts - The Great Big Nature Survey

 Dear [employee]

This week, our friends at Kent Wildlife Trust on behalf of The Wildlife Trusts have launched The Great Big Nature Survey.

This survey is a chance for everyone around the UK and islands to share their thoughts on nature, how it affects them, and what society should (or shouldn’t) do to protect it.

We warmly encourage you to set some time aside to complete the survey

The survey covers plenty of different topics concerning people and our role in nature, including:

  • What role, if any, should government and business play in managing nature?

  • How much does nature affect your daily life, and what actions have you taken to enjoy and protect it?

  • Are local communities and people best placed to manage the nature on their doorstep?

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes of your time.

 Take the survey today

After you’re done, please consider sharing the survey with your friends and family. They don’t have to be nature lovers to take part, The Wildlife Trusts want as many different voices to be heard as possible.

We can all support The Wildlife Trusts by taking the survey, so please put some time aside to do this. Get ready to share your thoughts on lots of different questions including:

Why does nature matter to you, if it does at all? Is it an important part of your daily life, or not? Does nature make you feel excited or bored, inspired or uninterested?

Who should be tasked with looking after nature? Businesses, government, local communities, all of them, or none of them?

What have you done recently to spend time in nature or protect it? Recycled, volunteered your time, signed a petition, none of these, or all of them and more besides?

Make your voice heard on all these questions and more by taking The Great Big Nature Survey today.
