Wilder Kent 2030

A WILDER KENT where nature is in recovery and valued as a critical human life support system.

Nature is in trouble and our Wilder Kent 2030 Strategy, sets out how we can work together to save it.

Our plan is both ambitious and innovative, and delivers the urgent action that must be taken to tackle the nature and climate emergency.

Our mission

Our mission is to increase wildlife abundance and climate resilience across 30% of Kent's land and sea.

By working with communities and partners, we believe that we can save and restore our natural world.

Our goals

How?

To achieve the Wilder Kent 2030 vision of nature in recovery and being valued as a critical human life support system, we need more land under our direct management, as well as greater influence over a larger geographic area, where we can ensure the greatest possible conservation impact.

We will use finance from Nature-based Solutions to double our landholdings by 2030 and manage them for the long-term. We will partner with others to extend this approach to an equivalent area of land and sea beyond our estate.

Who?

The Kent Wildlife Trust Group includes our consultancy and education services, with Kent Wildlife Trust taking the specific role as the parent charity to deliver the #WilderKent 2030 goals.

We also embrace working in partnership with other charities and organisations and recognise that, by harnessing different approaches, we can achieve more.

You can view the roles of each group below or download here.

Next steps: scaling impact

We will focus our own action and innovation on the 2-4% of Kent under our direct influence, using wilding and other principle-based approaches to maximise the number and abundance of species of animals and plants.

We will monitor our impact and openly learn by doing.

We will use this approach to inspire others, encouraging them to play their part in achieving the #WilderKent 2030 ambition through direct advocacy and demonstrating the art of the possible.
