Livestock Checking Volunteer - East Coast
CommitmentMonday, Thursday, Sunday
These volunteers assist the work of our Reserve Wardens by keeping a close eye on the livestock who help us to manage our sites. Volunteers will visit sites on a specific day each week and report any issues to our Wardens. The volunteers will be offered full training in checking livestock and monitoring activity on these sites, as well as on-going support.
We have a range of livestock that help us in managing our sites to create the best habitats for wildlife on our Reserves. Our livestock does move between sites on a regular basis, so we may only be looking for temporary volunteer help in specific areas and this will be indicated on the application form at the bottom of this page.
Who we're looking for: We offer full training and support for volunteers, so you don’t need to be a livestock expert, but will need a willingness to learn more about livestock and conservation. You must however, love walking and be happy to be out in all weathers. You’ll need access to a phone and (ideally) email in order to report progress to our wardens. Some of our sites are not accessible by public transport so it would be advantageous if you have access to your own transport.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to volunteering on a rota basis on a specific day of the week and for the check to take place in the morning.
Due to the training supplied, we are looking for volunteers who can commit to volunteering with us for a minimum of 3 months.
How to apply: Please complete the application form and send this to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be in contact with you for an informal chat about the role.
