An award scheme with a difference

'Wild About Gardens' Awards scheme is designed to encourage people to welcome wildlife into their gardens, whatever the size, type or primary use of the garden.

What is Wild about Gardens?

We're not expecting you to turn your backyard into a mini nature reserve. We're looking for gardens around Kent to be turned into wildlife havens with just a few simple changes. From the flora you grow to habitats you can create.

Volunteer advisors visit your garden to assess how wildlife-friendly it is. Our Volunteers are also happy to visit a work in progress to offer friendly advice and encouragement.

There is no overall winner, apart from the wildlife of course.

How can I get involved?

There are various ways to get involved with Wilder Gardens:

1. Enter your garden

Entry forms for 2020 will be available in the early spring. The closing date is 14 June.

2. Become a volunteer advisor

We are currently looking for new volunteer advisors for next season. Training is provided during the winter months.

Please contact Maureen.Rainey@kentwildlife.org.uk 01622 357829 for more information or just an informal chat

Alternatively you can click here

3. Come to one of our Wilder Gardens workshops or events:

There will be a series of informal workshops on various aspects of wildlife-friendly gardening starting in April.

 More details to follow.
