Tyland Barn Art Gallery
This July we are delighted to be exhibiting works by local Marden artist Gemma Keith who started her creative journey at UCA Maidstone. During her time at The University of the Arts London she would spend many hours at the Natural History Museum taking in all the feather designs.
Throughout her career animals have been her favourite subject of study. She describes it as magical capturing the character of the creature in some added whiskers or a twinkle in the eye. Her business began in 2017 simple selling cards and prints but has gone from strength to strength since then. Now encompassing textiles and handmade creations.
As well as prints for sale Gemma has a get range of pillows, tote bags, cards and tea towels for sale.
Each Cushion is hand made by Gemma in her studio in Marden. Every cushion has its own zip fastening and matching label and takes around a hour to make.
Romney Marsh Gallery
This July the gallery hosts Ruth Parkinson who is a professional artist living on the Kent Coast.
She Loves the desolation of Dungeness and the Marsh, with its immense skies and ever changing tide along the shores; sometimes braving tempests, to experience the exhilaration of nature. This is where she gets her inspiration from for her art work.
A recent sojourn within the West Countries spectacular coastlines, coupled with immersion in Storms Dylan and Eleanor, has amplified her focus on the dramatic ever changing "plasticity" of the material world; subsequent reflections, expressed within her recent work.
The gallery is open Monday to Sunday, 10am-5pm
