About the event

Witches' brooms or Quidditch Brooms are traditionally known as Besom
brooms and have been made and used for thousands of years by humans.
The craft of broom making is considered endangered as there are not
enough people making them and the skill is not being passed on.

Each learner will cut a bundle of Birch twigs to make the head of the
broom. The head is then bound before the handle is fitted. Finally the
head is trimmed and the bindings are neatened and the broom
decorated.

Each learner will be able to make a broom to take home at the end of
each session. We welcome family groups for this course.

This workshop is suitable for beginners.  Children under 16 are very welcome to take part with a parent or guardian.

Led by Martin Keelor and Sue King who have been running Lady Oak Wood projects for 8 years, selling their own handmade wood products as well as teaching various greenwood working workshops and courses at various levels.
