About the event

On this online course you will find out why certain bird species sing, what bird calls are and what they can mean, and tips to help your identification.

Each evening will take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, and will consist of interactive discussions, a quiz and a 1 hour presentation using photos, illustrations, videos and sounds to bring the fascinating subjects alive.  

By the end of the course it is expected that you will:

  • Understand how and why birds use sounds.
  • Understand differences in songs & calls.
  • Gain confidence in identifying Britain’s birds by their sounds with handy hints and tips.

Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Led by Simon Ginnaw, Ornithologist.  Simon has been birding for over 20 years, regularly undertakes bird surveys, is an international birdwatching guide, and teaches a number of bird-related courses.



The cost for this 6 week course is £72.50 per person
Dates: 27th January, 3rd, 17th, and 24th February, 3rd and 10th March 2021
