About the event

The day will comprise an introduction to owls generally then focusing in more detail on barn owls. There will be  a visit to a meadow to look at habitat requirements. Mammal traps will have been set so hopefully we will be able to look at the animals which support barn owl populations and learn something of the ecology of small mammals. The day will finish with a practical session picking apart barn owl pellets to find out what barn owls feed on.

Participants will gain an understanding of:

- the life cycle of barn owls

- their need for suitable nest sites and how these can be provided by Man

- the need for habitat to support their main prey and how that habitat must be managed

Led by Lynne and Peter Flower, Naturalists.

Suitable for beginners and improvers
