Introduction to Wild Flowers for Beginners
About the event
We start in the classroom with an introduction to flowering plants. Students will examine specimens and will be shown the important parts required for plant identification and classification into families etc. Characters which provide short cuts to specific groups, and their particular habitats. How to find your way about an identification book will be discussed. We will visit various habitats within the reserve, collecting and bringing back specimens to the classroom for identification. The remainder of the day will be spent in the Visitor Centre of the Reserve with selected specimens, using the Wild Flower Key to confirm their identification.
