Events & 50th Anniversary Celebrations

Next year, in 2008, the Trust will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary and hosting a number of high profile events across the county throughout the year. The Trust also holds regular events such as the AGM and open days for members, and participates in events such as Kent Goes Wild and the Kent County Show. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help out at one or several events. Volunteers must be good at talking to members of the public, interested in the Trust’s work, and, potentially, enjoy being involved in arts and crafts and /or children’s activities.

Membership volunteer

The Membership team is a very busy team administering all the memberships, donations and mailings from and to approximately 34,000 supporters. We urgently need a volunteer to assist with some of our administrative tasks – e.g. putting together the membership packs, letters in envelopes, photocopying and guillotining. Any hours between 09:00 and 17:30 any day Monday to Friday regularly would be most welcome. Ideally half a day once or twice a week would be great.

For more information please contact Jane Blyth 01622 656474.

People and Wildlife

Wildlife Garden Volunteer

Our People & Wildlife staff would like to build up a team of volunteers to help develop and maintain a wildlife garden at the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve visitor centre, which will be used by visitors and educational groups alike.

Reserves

Practical Conservation

The Kent Wildlife Trust manages over 55 nature reserves in Kent and there are numerous opportunities for volunteers to get involved. The wardens hold tasks throughout the year - weekdays and weekends in winter, weekdays in summer (occasional weekends at Pegwell Bay, Blean Woods and Sevenoaks).

Visitor Centres

Romney Marsh visitor centre and country park volunteer

The Romney Marsh visitor centre is a straw bale construction with a sedum roof and wood burning stove,  set in the heart of eleven hectares of country park. It houses dramatic displays on the natural and social heritage of Romney Marsh. We need volunteers seven days a week in the summer and four days a week in the winter from 10.30am to 4.30pm; most volunteers do one day a week.
