If you are looking for something to do, the Romney Marshes Living Landscape area offers something for everyone. Explore the network of footpaths, country lanes and greenways by walking, cycling or horse riding. Discover the tranquillity of the historic churches and the Royal Military Canal. Get close to wildlife at one of the area's nature reserves, or take part in an event to learn more about wildlife. Help us to care for the Romney Marshes by making sure your visit is an environmentally friendly one.

  • Use your car less! Why not make use of bus and train connections to the Marshes, and explore the area on foot, bicycle or horseback?
  • If you are here on holiday, set aside one or two days when you give your car a holiday too by using other modes of transport.
  • Support local skills , services and produce when shopping locally. Use village services and post offices to help boost the economy and keep local businesses alive. This increases the number of jobs and improves the quality of life for local people.
  • Respect wild animals and plants. Avoid disturbing birds and other animals, particularly ground-nesting birds during the breeding season from March until June. Leave wild flowers for others to enjoy.
  • Support the sustainable use of our seas by buying marine conservation grade fish in local restaurants and shops. Information on sourcing sustainably caught fish can be found here.
