Nature Reserve
Set in 11 hectares, this newly designated Local Nature Reserve harbours unspoiled dune grassland, willow scrub and wildlife-rich ponds. As an SSSI it is a nationally important site for great crested newts. Species of special interest include great diving beetles, small red-eyed damselfly and tree sparrow, along with a number of acid grassland plants.
Visitor Centre
This award winning eco-built straw-bale constructed Centre has dramatic displays about the Marsh and its heritage as well as demonstrating ways to reduce your impact on the environment. There are toilets, hot drinks, a gift shop and a wide range of tourist information. There are regular family events and booked groups are welcome.
Opening Times
Spring and Summer opening: March 20 to end October, open every day from 10.00am - 4.30pm including Bank Holidays. After October half-term
Friday - Monday 10.00am - 4pm. Not open at Christmas.
Stop Press!
Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - Special trains running April to September. First train in mornings daily, further details to follow.
