Nature Reserve
Set in 11 hectares, this newly designated Local Nature Reserve harbours unspoiled dune grassland, willow scrub and wildlife-rich ponds. As an SSSI it is a nationally important site for great crested newts. Species of special interest include great diving beetles, small red-eyed damselfly and tree sparrow, along with a number of acid grassland plants.

Visitor Centre
This award winning eco-built straw-bale constructed Centre has dramatic displays about the Marsh and its heritage as well as demonstrating ways to reduce your impact on the environment. There are toilets, hot drinks, a gift shop and a wide range of tourist information. There are regular family events and booked groups are welcome.
As part of our TGN Project (Transmanche Green Networking), our visitor centres at Romney Marsh (Shepway District Council) and Reculver (Canterbury City Council) are linked to Arena in Boulogne. The project was set up to encourage green tourism and improve conservation management. The Church leaflet that can be downloaded below is part of the TGN Project:
