The original Brenchley Wood Nature Reserve covers about 8 hectares of relic High Weald woodland between Brenchley and Pembury. A recent purchase of part of the adjoining Foxhole Wood has extended the reserve by five and a half hectares.
The woods are mostly beech and oak and have a very varied understorey with over 25 species of bryophytes alone. There is a boggy area near the main access and a sphagnum flush towards the north of the site. Areas of the reserve are being managed by the Trust to restore heathland.
Parking is very limited; a stile marks the entrance.
