Ashford Warren & Hoads Wood

'Relic' wood pasture, veteran trees and nationally rare acid grassland make up this site squeezed between major roads, railway lines, and the rapid urban development of Ashford.

Kent Wildlilfe Trust is working with the owners, Ashford Borough Council for the long-term future of this nature reserve for wildlife assured.

Many of the important habitats on this site have declined thorough the spread of alien species such as sycamore and sweet chestnut, and the area has been squeezed between major roads, railway lines, and the rapid urban development of Ashford.

There are, however, some important habitats that have survived, such as 'relic' wood pasture, veteran trees, nationally rare acid grassland supporting a range of tiny insects and flowering plants; wet pools and swamps - home to grass snake, great crested newts, and the spectacular water violet.
