National Marine Week: cultural, coastal events

How to get involved and use art to raise awareness about our seas.

Our relationship with our coastline and sea has been one of constant change. We have feared its power, marvelled at its mysterious creatures, sought peace at its shore and chased adventures across it.

There’s no doubt that the sea holds sway over us, and has inspired many great works of literature, poetry and art throughout the years.

In celebration of all that it has given us, coastal communities around the UK are recognising the need to raise awareness and campaign for marine protection. By hosting engagement events, running festivals and promoting conservation action to local communities, the hope is that the spark of connection will be reignited in the hearts of visitors to the sea, and inspire positive change for the preservation of our marine and coastal life.
