Roadside Nature Reserve Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to join our Roadside Nature Reserves Team across the county. Our volunteers help us on task days, and keep an eye on our roadside verges throughout the year.

Roadside Nature Reserves can link existing wildlife areas, helping to reconnect and restore landscape so that wildlife is no longer struggling to survive in isolation. This supports a living landscape, which benefits both people and wildlife and makes nature more resilient to future change. They provide vital wildlife corridors for many species, particularly reptiles such as slow-worms and viviparous lizards, and mammals such as badgers.

Roadside Nature Reserve Task Days

Our Roadside Nature Reserve Volunteers help us by participating in task days, carrying out essential work on the verges and roadside alongside our staff team.  Volunteers can join us for a full or part day, and you don't need any previous experience in conservation work, so long as you are enthusiastic and willing to learn. You'll get to see the wildlife and their habitats in a totally new way! Our Roadside Nature Reserve task days are published on our website and if you would like to participate, please contact our Roadside Verge Officer in advance via the details on the task list.

Roadside Wardens

Roadside Nature Reserve signWe're looking for Volunteer Roadside Wardens who can help us to keep an eye on the roadside verges and roads close to their homes.

We're currently looking for volunteers in the Dover, Swale and Medway areas, as well as some other areas across Kent (please see the application form for more information).

This is a flexible role, and monitoring can be carried out at your convenience during daylight hours.  We'll need you to monitor the verges on at least a monthly basis.  You will be provided with full and on-going training  and you will be provided with a point of contact to report any issues or concerns.  If you would be interested in this role, please complete the application form and send this to our Volunteer Team.
