Livestock Checker - Weald Area

Sheep

We're looking for volunteers to help us check on the Livestock at some of our Weald area sites.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our livestock checking team in the Weald Area at The Gill in Goudhurst. These volunteers assist the work of our Reserve Wardens by keeping a close eye on the livestock who help us to manage our sites. Volunteers will visit specific sites on a set day each week and report any issues to our Wardens.  Volunteers will be offered training in checking livestock and monitoring activity on these sites.  We don't have livestock at the sites all year round, so we're looking for volunteers with some flexibility in their involvement.

We offer full training and support throughout the winter season for volunteers, so you don’t need to be a livestock expert, but will need a willingness to learn more about livestock and conservation. You must however, love walking and be happy to be out in all weathers. You’ll need access to a phone and (ideally) email in order to report progress to our wardens.

We'll be looking for volunteers to join us in the next few months and we’ll need volunteers to carry out the livestock checking during daylight hours.

You'll be working closely with, and reporting to our Weald Area Reserve Warden, and communicating with them regularly either by phone, email or in person.

How to apply: please complete the application form and return to  volunteering@kentwildlife.org.uk
