Queendown Warren Livestock Checker

We're looking for volunteers to be extra eyes and ears on the livestock who help us to manage our Queendown Warren reserve in Sittingbourne.

Our livestock checking volunteers assist the work of our Reserve Wardens by keeping a close eye on the cattle, ponies and sheep that help us to manage our site at Queendown Warren. Volunteers will visit the site during daylight hours on days agreed in advance, and report any issues to our Wardens.

We offer full training and support throughout for volunteers, so you don’t need to be a livestock expert, but will need a willingness to learn more about livestock and conservation. You must however, love walking and be happy to be out in all weathers. You’ll need access to a phone and (ideally) email in order to report progress to our wardens.

You'll be working closely with, and reporting to our Medway & Mid-Kent Downs Area Warden, and communicating with them regularly either by phone, email or in person.

How to apply: Please complete the application form below and return to volunteering@kentwildlife.org.uk or call 01622 662012 and speak to our Volunteer Team.
