Rochester Area Livestock Checker - Nashenden Down

We're looking for volunteers to join our Medway team and to help us keep an eye on our livestock on our Nashenden Down site near Rochester.

We're looking for volunteers to be our eyes and ears on our Nashenden Down reserve, helping us to check up on our livestock on a regular basis.

You'll be assisting the work of our Reserve Wardens by keeping a close eye on the livestock who help us to manage our sites. Volunteers will visit sites on a specific day each week and report any issues to our Wardens. The volunteers will be offered full training in checking livestock and monitoring activity on these sites, as well as on-going support.

Who we're looking for:

We offer full training and support for volunteers, so you don’t need to be a livestock expert, but will need a willingness to learn more about livestock and conservation. You must however, love walking and be happy to be out in all weathers. You’ll need access to a phone and (ideally) email in order to report progress to our wardens. Some of our sites are not accessible by public transport so it would be advantageous if you have access to your own transport.

We usually look for volunteers to commit to volunteering on a rota basis on a specific day of the week, and we ask you to visit the site as early as possible in the day.

Due to the training supplied, we are looking for volunteers who can commit to volunteering with us for a minimum of 3 months.

How to apply: Please complete the application form and send this to volunteering@kentwildlife.org.uk and we will be in contact with you for an informal chat about the role.
