Outdoor Volunteering

We're always looking for volunteers to join our outdoor tasks throughout the county. You'll be working alongside our Area Wardens and a team of friendly volunteers, helping us to manage our reserves for wildlife. Our work is seasonal, with mainly repairs and survey work taking place throughout the summer months, and our reserve management work taking place between September and March.

Why choose an outdoor volunteering role?

  • Spend time outside on beautiful nature reserves.

  • Meet new people.

  • Make a real difference to wildlife.

  • Learn some practical skills like coppicing, fencing and scrub bashing.

  • Improvement to health through increased physical outdoor activity.

  • Reduction in stress and anxiety.

Things to know before you start

  • You need to let the relevant Warden know you'll be joining us. This can be done by email or phone.

  • You'll need to wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

  • You will need to bring your own lunch and drinks with you.

  • Those aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Those aged 16 and 17 can attend with parent/guardians consent.

How do I get involved?
