Ian Rickards, Ashford Area Warden for Kent Wildlife Trust, leads this walk looking for birds such as tree creepers, woodpeckers, linnets, and possibly even the first cuckoo of the year.

Meet Hothfield Heathlands nature reserve. From Ashford, follow the A20 north for 4.8km (3miles). Turn left towards Hothfield village and take the first right. Meet at the reserve car park (on the right), OS map ref. TQ 972458, postcode TN26 1HD.

Bring sturdy shoes - the ground will be uneven and possibly wet in places, with some steep slopes. No dogs, please.
