New Wildlife Warden for the Swale
Kevin Duvall has recently joined Kent Wildlife Trust as Swale Area Reserves Warden with responsibility for managing its internationally important sites at Oare Marshes and South Swale as well as those at Oare Meadow and Spuckles and Kenneling Woods at Stalisfield.
Born in Chatham, Kevin lived near the marshes at Cooling near Rochester before he and his mother travelled to Kenya to join his father who was serving in the army and thereon, due to his father’s postings, spent the next 16 years travelling to various parts of the world attending 12 different schools along the way.
After a long career with the Royal Mail he accepted an offer of early retirement in 2004 and soon began volunteering with the Kent Wildlife Trust and spending more time indulging in his lifetime interest of birdwatching.
Kevin said:
“As a result of the extra time on my hands, my interest soon developed into a passion and the Kent Wildlife Trust work has made me realise how important the Kent wildlife reserves are. My involvement with the Trust has also sparked an interest in all aspects of wildlife which I am keen to develop.
“My aim is to build on the success of the Swale reserves; provide continued protection to these fragile habitats and to encourage greater biodiversity to the region.”
