Join Kent Wildlife Trust next weekend (10th & 11th May) at its picturesque Marden Meadow nature reserve to celebrate its 50th anniversary and enjoy one of the most spectacular displays of wild flowers to be seen in Kent this year.

Thousands of green-winged orchids are set to provide a stunning backdrop to ‘This is Your Wildlife’ - a free event that will appeal to adults and children alike with a variety of activities including guided walks, pond dipping and small mammal detection.

There’s also an opportunity to brush up on wildlife photography skills with ‘master class’ sessions led by professional photographers.

Portions of the world’s biggest bird seed cake will be available for visitors to take away for their gardens.

The event will run from 10am – 4pm on both days.

Marden Meadow nature reserve (OS Map ref: 188 TQ 763445) is between Marden and Staplehurst on the Marden Road, near Mountain Farm. From Maidstone take the A229 towards Hastings. At Staplehurst, RAC signs will direct you to the event. Ample parking is provided. Both Marden and Staplehurst railway stations are close by.
