Free family event to celebrate Kent’s wildlife
The highlight of Kent Wildlife Trust’s 50th anniversary year takes place in the beautiful lakeside and woodland setting of Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve next weekend.
The inaugural ‘Festival of Wildlife’, sponsored by Belmont International, runs from 10am - 5pm on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August.
In addition to enjoying a stunning array of wildlife, visitors can take part in a multitude of activities including:
- Guided walks with wildlife experts
- Small mammal identification tours - observe mammals in their natural habitats
- Family activities such as mini-beast hunting, angling demonstrations and pond dipping
- Wildlife photography - learn new skills from professional photographers “Wild About Kent”
There will also be demonstrations of spinning, wood turning, chainsaw carving, willow weaving etc; Best of Kent stalls; live music from local folk band Pig’s Ear; and displays from marine, mammal, bat and wildlife rescue groups.
Event organiser, Amanda Hamley, is encouraging Kent residents to make the most of this opportunity: “It’s the height of the holiday season so we promise young and old alike a free, fun and festive weekend at one of Kent’s most impressive nature reserves. Bring a picnic if you wish - and a camera - and enjoy the great outdoors”.
Directions by road: Follow RAC signs on A25 Bradbourne Vale Road from either Riverhead or Bat & Ball. Ample free parking is available.
