Bough Beech Boost
Over £65,000 of Landfill Communities Funding (LCF) is to be invested in habitat and public access improvements to Bough Beech nature reserve near Sevenoaks, following successful bids by Kent Wildlife Trust to Cory Environmental Trust in Britain (£50,000) and Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust (£15,352).

Projects to be funded and starting this spring include:
- a new disabled-friendly wildlife watching hide with willow screening and interpretation boards;
- a new wader scrape plus modifications to the existing scrape - ‘The Roy Cole Flood’;
- alterations to the sites of two ponds and their dipping platforms to improve
- safety and accessibility for school and community groups;
- new fencing and path improvements - to improve access for visitors;
- willow coppicing and scrub removal to improve structural diversity and create roosting and feeding areas for wildfowl as well as improving visibility for visitors;
- survey work on protected species.
Kent Wildlife Trust’s Reserves Officer (West), Dave Hutton, said: “This is a very significant injection of funds that will enable us to make this beautiful site even more attractive and welcoming to visitors whilst enriching its biodiversity.”
