Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve has once again benefited from an annual art exhibition featuring work by many of the South East’s top botanical artists.

Florum representatives, Paul Oliver-Smith (Chairman) and Elizabeth Smail (President) presented a cheque for £2,000 to Visitor Centre Manager, Nicola Wingfield at a recent event at the reserve.

Nine years ago, Florum was formed expressly to raise money for the Sevenoaks Reserve and, so far, donations from the sale of paintings have reached nearly £10,000.

In 2009, the prestigious exhibition attracted 65 award-winning artists from SE England including many RHS gold medal winners, who provided some 300 pictures in many different styles ranging from a huge canvas of an exotic bloom to a miniature of a cottage garden.

Many artists have work permanently on display at international art galleries: the famed Shirley Sherwood gallery at Kew Gardens; the Pittsburgh Exhibition of Botanical Art and the Highgrove Florilegium. Some of the work has been sold to HM The Queen and the Duke of Kent.

The 2010 exhibition will run from Saturday 11th - Saturday 18th September. Entrance is free.
