A world record first
Kent Wildlife Trust’s Head of Fundraising, Phillip King, and 50th Anniversary Officer, Amanda Hamley, announce the new world record at the weigh-in.
Kent Wildlife Trust went wild with joy today when its attempt to create a new world record for the largest bird seed cake weighed in at 1.29 tons, well over the one metric ton requirement set by Guinness World Records™.
| Biggest ever bird seed cake!
On Tuesday, 22nd April, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Kent Wildlife Trust, its staff will attempt to construct the world’s biggest birdseed cake from a recipe of fat, flour and birdseed. The challenge will take place at the Trust’s headquarters and visitor centre, Tyland Barn in Sandling, near Maidstone.
| Hardy herd of highland cattle to enhance heathland
A herd of magnificent Highland cattle has been brought in to carry out the annual grazing at Hothfield Common, near Ashford.
The Common is Kent’s last remaining area of lowland heath, valley bogs
and fen, and consequently supports many plants and animals found
nowhere else in Kent.
